An Update

We went to the doctor yesterday afternoon. My last appointment was at 25 weeks, and in 5 weeks I've gained 3 (actually, 2.8, but who's counting?) more pounds, putting me up 16 total from pre-pregnancy. Not bad, not bad. My doctor told me that my blood work from a few weeks ago (glucose tolerance and hemoglobin) was perfect. We talked a little about what to expect in the next several weeks, the doctor poked around at Little Girl (she's head-down, thank goodness), and we listened to the baby's heartbeat. Everything seems really good, and we're now going in every two weeks. They also made me get a flu shot, but I don't want to talk about it.

After our appointment, we went to childbirth class number two. I think Mike and I both agreed that it was far more informative than last time, and we had a good time. I don't, however, think that our teacher likes us very much. Maybe we laugh and joke too much or something. I answered many of her questions, and while other couple received little prizes, we did not. Grumpy bitch.

30 Weeks

I got this henna piece on my belly this weekend to celebrate Little Girl. Henna in the third trimester is believed to be good luck, bringing about an easy labor and healthy baby. I just thought it would be a fun thing to include in my pregnancy memories. I wonder what my doctor will say about it on Wednesday. Chances are, though, that being in Lawrence, this won't be the first time she's seen this.

. . . . . .

How far along? 30 weeks (!!!)
Total weight gain/loss: I will let you know on Wednesday.
Maternity clothes? I need to order the dress I want for my high school reunion!!!
Stretch marks? present and accounted for
Sleep: We went camping over the long weekend, and I slept ridiculously well. Do you think Mike would mind if I take to sleeping on our air mattress out on the deck? It's just a thought!
Best moment this week: spending four days in the middle of nowhere with my husband
Movement: I think I'm starting to notice hiccups from time to time.
Food cravings: nothing to speak of
Gender: Baby Girl!!!
Labor Signs: nope
What I miss: nothing right now...I'm feeling pretty blissful.
What I am looking forward to: my doctor's appointment on Wedneday
Weekly Wisdom: You don't have to let strangers touch your belly. It's just not necessary.
Milestones: 30 weeks...3/4 of the way there...crazy

Such and Such

Just a few notes before I'm off for the long weekend...

Last night was our first childbirth class. I was pretty excited to go, and was a little disappointed. The first class had little to do with the birth. It was mostly about what to expect in the third trimester, signs of pre-labor, and services that the hospital offers. We did a little bit of relaxation-type stuff in the end, but overall, there wasn't much new information. Oh well. Hopefully it will get much better.

Tomorrow we leave on our annual Labor Day camping trip. It looks like we'll get some rain, but it shouldn't get too horribly hot, so I'm okay with that. I love being able to get away from everything for a few days and just enjoy myself. I think Mike and I are both looking at this as our own little "babymoon"...our last chance to get away before we become parents. I hope that we can look forward to camping trips with our little one in the future.

29 Weeks

How far along? 29 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I don't know right now. I do, however, have a doctors appointment next week. I'm sure I've gained more than I would like to, but whatever...
Maternity clothes? Now that the weather has been so cool, I'm thinking more about looking for a couple sweaters or long sleeve options.
Stretch marks? a badge of honor
Sleep: My hips still really bother me at night, but oh well. I've also noticed that since I wake up more frequently, I'm remembering a lot more of my dreams. They're all pretty bizarre.
Best moment this week: Honestly, nothing is jumping out at me. It was a fairly run of the mill kind of week.
Movement: She is a very busy girl, until someone is watching or her daddy tries to feel. Then she stops in her tracks. Stubborn baby!
Food cravings: I finally got some carrot cake!!! I'd been wanting it for weeks now.
Gender: Baby Girl!!!
Labor Signs: nope
What I miss: rolling over in the bed without whimpering in pain
What I am looking forward to: This is an exciting week! We begin our childbirth classes this Wednesday and then get to leave for our four-day camping trip on Friday. I love it!!!
Weekly Wisdom: You don't have to listen to everyone's advice all the time.
Milestones: I got nothing.

Funny Stuff

I was pointed to this website where you can have people try to guess different things about when your baby will be born. I thought it was just kind of funny, but what the heck!!! Maybe I'll even do something fun for whoever is the closest. Go make your guesses!

Stubborn Baby

Last night Little Girl was going crazy moving around, so I decided to try to get some video of my stomach moving. I got our little camcorder, got comfortable and put the remote control on my belly. As soon as I turned the camera on, she stopped moving. No matter how much I poked and nudged, she would not move. I got annoyed and stopped recording. While I was deleting the useless video I took, guess who decided to start kicking? I quickly got the camera going again, hoping to catch the renewed burst of energy...nothing. What a stubborn girl!!! At least we know, with Mike and me for parents, that she comes by it naturally.

What a Difference 7 Weeks Makes

Last night I had Mike take at picture of me for 28 weeks. I was originally just going to go in and add to my post from yesterday. That was until I looked at my 21 Week picture and my 28 Week picture side to side. Holy crap!!! I realize that it makes sense that I'd be a lot bigger this week, but I hadn't even noticed how much bigger I was. Check it out!!!

Again...I'm a little bit afraid of what the next 12 weeks will bring.
